Aspen Launched By Top Scots Head-hunters

Four of Scotland’s most experienced head-hunters have launched a new company with the aim of becoming a major player in the UK executive search market.

Aspen, which will be headquartered in Glasgow, has been launched by industry veteran Ken Dalgleish and three partners, all of whom were former Directors in Munro.

The four Directors of Aspen are Ken Dalgleish, Donogh O’Brien, Catriona Mackie and Nigel Fortnum.

Aspen will be dedicated to delivering a contemporary service in executive search and talent acquisition, backed by extensive industry experience and with continuation of the good governance and innovative partnership working style the group are known for.

It will specialise in head-hunting for senior positions across the private, public and third sectors with the focus on strategic Director level appointments and Chair and Non-Executive Director opportunities. The team has experience across the fast growing SME Sector including specialist food & drink operators.

Managing Director Ken Dalgleish said: “Aspen will deliver a partnership service, not merely a recruitment product. We will work closely with leading UK organisations to help them fill their most senior positions at Executive and Non-Executive level.

We will build on our extensive track record, continuing our relationship with long-standing clients as well as establishing new and constructive relationships with new clients in our target markets.”

Aspen is on course for a first year turnover of &pound1m with the aim of doubling fee income over the next three years.

Ken Dalgleish is a founding Director of Munro Consulting and two Aspen founders were previously Directors at Munro. Over the last 18 months they have operated as an independent company within Munro.

Ken Dalgleish explained: “We have been running as an independent part of Munro Group for some time and we all agreed it made sense to launch a distinct new company and identity. We have made sure that clients and candidates will experience nothing more than a name change as we continue to deliver the exceptional service levels we are known for.”

Aspen’s Directors have a significant track record in executive search for some of Scotland’s leading blue chip companies, government organisations, local authorities, health bodies and charities.

Ken Dalgleish is a head-hunter with over 20 years’ experience at board and senior management level working across Scotland and UK. Clients include large Public and Private sector organisations and SME’s. He was a Director and joint founder of Munro Consulting and Munro Solutions.

Donogh O’Brien has worked in executive search across the private, public and third sectors in the UK for nearly 20 years. He has handled high profile assignments at executive and non-executive levels within Higher and Further Education, the NHS, Local and Central Government, charities, social enterprise and University spin out companies.

Catriona Mackie joined Munro Consulting in 2009. She has significant experience of working with the third sector on Chief Executive and Non-Executive appointments. Prior to joining Munro Consulting, Catriona spent ten years at National Australia Group in both Ireland and Scotland working in Finance and Project Management positions and five years in Senior Management roles with Visit Scotland.

Nigel Fortnum has spent the last 17 years working in executive search, specialising in the industries of Agri-Business and Food and Drink. After seven years of running his own executive search consultancy Fortnum Select, he joined Munro in August 2012.

Ken Dalgleish added: “We believe this is an exciting time to be launching a bespoke, tailored and service orientated head-hunting company that puts trust and partnership relationships at the heart of its business. Aspen will provide senior personnel to help build great teams, great careers and great, enduring relationships with the best candidates and clients in the UK.”
