BIE Group completes management buy-out

Long-established executive search and interim recruitment firm BIE Group has completed a management buy-out from The Cornhill Partnership. Three managers, led by chief executive Rob Walker, have become equal equity partners in the business in a deal which has also seen continuing investment by Barclays Ventures, a division of Barclays corporate banking. The two other equity partners are Ben Hawkins and Gordon Whyte. Rob Walker said:

“BIE Group is now an owner-managed business one with a very well-respected, long-standing outside investor who recognises we have a market leading brand and who shares our belief in the growth opportunity facing us. “The buy-out deal has been a significant project in recent months and it would not have been possible without the enthusiasm and energy of the new partners, plus the financial expertise of Roland Perry, my former colleague and finance director at Walker Hamill.”

BIE is recognised as one of the original UK & lsquo;market-makers’ in the provision of senior level interim managers. The firm operates in a growing market, driven by companies reluctant to hire permanent managers or those needing a temporary and fast injection of specific skills. Rob Walker adds that BIE Group’s expanding executive search practice is benefiting from a continuing talent shortage of permanent high calibre, upper-middle managers and senior executives across all sectors.

"Clients are coming to us because of our specialist knowledge in the four specialist functions we focus on. We're receiving mandates from the UK and internationally as demand for good people in these disciplines continues to outpace supply."

Last year, BIE Group was ranked number one by interim managers for service quality as part of the annual survey of the Institute of Interim Management, beating more than 150 recruitment firms.
