Recruitment firm’s rising stars complete fast-track training

RISING stars at a recruitment firm have completed a fast-track training scheme designed to equip them with the leadership skills needed to flourish in senior management roles.

Seven up-and-coming consultants and branch managers at industrial recruitment specialist gap personnel have graduated from the company’s in-house management development programme.

Participants were assessed prior to being accepted onto the 10-month programme.

Successful applicants had to complete a series of workshops and work-based assessments covering areas such as situational leadership, motivation, team management, negotiation skills, conflict resolution and coping with work-related stress.

gap training co-ordinator Andy Cain praised the 2012/2013 intake, commending their dedication, work ethic and positivity.

He said: “Everyone did extremely well. They had to battle with nerves, time pressures and much more besides, but I’m pleased to say that they applied themselves and seized the opportunity with both hands.

“The delegates have put in a lot of hard work over the past 10 months, and deserve every success in the future.” 

gap is one of the UK’s largest industrial recruitment firms, placing 7,000 temporary workers a week and providing staffing solutions to more than 1,200 clients in 2012.

gap recently secured the & lsquo;Best UK Companies to Work For’ accreditation for the sixth consecutive year, and was one of only a handful of companies to be awarded Investors in People (IIP) GOLD status.

The company’s management fast-track 2012 /13 roll of honour includes Antony Wheeler, a branch manager within gap’s technical division.

Antony said: “I’m using the lessons that I’ve learnt on the programme pretty much every day.

“As a manager it’s easy to think that you’re pretty good at things like situational leadership, but sitting through a course like this really opens your eyes to the fact that there is always room for improvement.

“The programme was a very worthwhile experience. Being able to follow up with Andy Cain after the different sessions and workshops was useful, and really helped the teachings to sink in.”
