Capita moves to help address disengagement in the classroom

Capita plc announces the acquisition of specialist online learning company, Creating Careers Ltd, for an undisclosed sum. Creating Careers provides learners who have been disengaged from traditional education techniques with a route to accredited, nationally-recognised qualifications.

Creating Careers has been developing and supplying accredited e-learning solutions to the further and secondary education sectors for 13 years through its vision2learn product suite. Designed to increase attainment of school and college learners, the company offers a range of subjects including both vocational courses and more traditional qualifications, such as GCSEs. Its accredited products can be provided via distance learning, in partnership with further education colleges, or directly with schools.

Commenting on the acquisition, Simon Taylor from Capita’s Workplace Services division said: “The acquisition will add value to the range of services Capita currently supplies to the education and learning and development sectors. We look forward to welcoming the new team, all of whom have strong backgrounds in education, and working together to improve the learning potential of students.”

Neil Moult, Creating Careers’ CEO commented: “Creating Careers’ exponential growth over the last two years is testament to the services and products it offers. As part of Capita, the business will be able to offer new services to clients and enhance the existing offering. We’re looking forward to the exciting times ahead and are committed to continuing to provide existing customers with the added value service they currently receive from us.”

Creating Careers, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, employs approximately 95 staff.  The existing management team will remain with the business.
