Deloitte and APSCo launch new Recruitment Benchmarking Survey

Deloitte and APSCo launch new Recruitment Benchmarking Survey

A new project to gather key operational and financial performance benchmarking metrics across the recruitment sector has been launched by The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) and Deloitte, the business advisory firm.

The survey, the first of its kind, will be undertaken annually with results published in September.  It will allow recruitment firms to know how their business’ key performance indicators (KPIs) compare with the overall market, giving real pointers towards the strategic areas of focus needed to achieve optimum performance. It is open to all recruitment firms.

“To date it has been almost impossible to gain a real insight into the overall industry,” says Ann Swain, Chief Executive of APSCo. “Various small scale surveys have attempted to extrapolate the kind of data required to generate meaningful benchmarking information, but to little effect. This is the first major survey of its type, aiming to help recruitment firms to improve the understanding of their position in the market and address the key challenges they face.”

Katie Folwell-Davies, Deloitte recruitment industry services partner, comments: “This is an exciting opportunity to launch this benchmarking survey with APSCo. We hope the survey data becomes a vital tool for the sector and look forward to analysing and producing the results report later this year.”

The aim of the survey is to get a genuine shape of the recruitment market and will look at typical staff ratios, typical margin and net fee income figures as well as the size and spread of businesses. All data will remain confidential and no firms will be identified in the report to encourage both the quality and volumes of response. The survey is open until 26 July and can be found at http://dexsurvey.deloitte.com?XID52724
