Industrial recruiter gives backing to charity football team

A charity-focused football team, created with the sole aim of raising money for good causes, will be cutting a dash thanks to industrial recruitment firm gap personnel.

The North Wales Dragons played their first match in 2009, and since then have gone from strength to strength – competing in several charity fundraising matches and tournaments across Britain and raising thousands of pounds for charity.

Players include amateur footballers from across the region who are keen to get involved in some charity fundraising.

Now gap has agreed to sponsor the new Dragons strip, which was designed by nine-year-old North Wales schoolgirl Bethan Watkins following a children’s competition.

The Dragons will be sporting the gap-sponsored green and white strip, made by sportswear firm Raging Bull, in several exhibition matches throughout the rest of the year.

Chris Roberts, North Wales Dragons co-founder, said: “Make-A-Wish UK is our nominated charity for the year, so all money we raise while wearing the new strip will be going to a fantastic cause.

“We’re extremely grateful to the good people at gap for their financial support. The Dragons wouldn’t be able to continue without the generosity of companies like gap. We’re thrilled to be teaming up with them.”

Gary Dewhurst, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) at gap personnel, said: “It’s great to see a football team with strong community roots and a dedication to fundraising for charity.

“It’s a pleasure to be able to support this fantastic initiative.”
