Thorn Baker 3 Peaks Challenge

 Thorn Baker 3 Peaks Challenge

On the 28th June, a team from Thorn Baker recruitment, the national recruitment company, tackled the UK 3 Peaks and have raised almost &pound6000 for a number of charitable organisations.

The challenge involved climbing the 3 highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales, amounting to over 3400m height gain. The peaks are Scafell Pike (978m), Ben Nevis (1344m) and Snowdon (1085m). In addition to the climbing, there is 25 miles of actual walking to be done and almost 500 miles on the road with hardly no sleep in unpredictable weather conditions.

Over the last three months, team members have committed many of their weekends to training walks to build team spirit and ensure that they were at peak performance when it came to the real challenge. These have included tackling Whernside, the highest mountain in Yorkshire, in heavy snow and a gruelling 15 mile trek on Scafell Pike and Great Gable in the Lake District.

In June, the team climbed Snowdon which involved a 10 mile trek and offered familiarisation for the final leg of the 3 peaks journey.

Thorn Baker Director Paul Jackman organised the 3 Peaks Challenge and comments

“The 3 Peaks Challenge was extremely demanding, both mentally and physically but it was truly a great accomplishment to achieve.

I'm very proud of the team and the money they have raised. Thank you very much to everyone that has supported us."

Thorn Baker raised around &pound6,000 for various UK charities, including Bowel Cancer UK, Breast Cancer, Cancer Research UK, Heart Research UK, LJS Foundation, Parkinson's UK, UK Sands, Stroke Association and Cats Protection League.

The agency’s other fundraising activities includes & lsquo;Dress Down day’ fundraising event at the end of each month, where donations are made to a different charity every month.
