Circuit Of Wales Appoint Smart Solutions

Following its successful outline planning application the Heads of the Valleys Development Company, the team behind Circuit of Wales, has appointed Newport-based Smart Solutions to oversee recruitment for the &pound280m automotive centre of excellence, reinforcing the project’s determination to use Welsh companies at key stages of the development.

Smart Solutions is one of the UK’s fastest growing independent recruitment and training companies and already works closely with an array of local employers in the Blaenau Gwent and wider south Wales area. It will use these links to fulfil the extensive opportunities for local employment throughout the duration of the project’s development and operation, with 3,000 jobs over two years predicted during the construction phase and approximately 6,000 jobs once the development is up and running.

Managing director of Smart Solutions, Ieuan Rosser, is naturally delighted with the appointment and adds: “I have extremely high hopes for our involvement with the Circuit of Wales development and am proud to be working on such a transformational project. We strive to offer the best labour solutions we can to our clients and to achieve this we will focus in great detail on the local community resource, which will include the opening of a new Ebbw Vale office to support local recruitment and candidate selection.”

Smart Solutions is one of the UK’s fastest growing independent recruitment and training companies with over 130 full-time staff and a projected turnover in 2014 in excess of &pound50m. It has a national reputation for creating bespoke training and staffing solutions for multiple service sectors. It has won a Welsh “Fast Growth 50” award twice and is also on the “Fast Growth 50” list for 2013. In the past five years it has established itself as one of Wales’ most successful emerging brands with offices throughout south Wales and the UK.

Smart Solutions already works closely with an array of local employers in the Blaenau Gwent and wider south Wales area and therefore knows the market well and is perfectly placed to build the right local teams to achieve the best results.

Jonathan Jones, Head of Training and Recruitment for Circuit of Wales is delighted to have Smart Solutions on board and comments: “Their track record speaks for itself and they share our passion for ensuring the job opportunities available benefit the local communities as much as possible. This is in keeping with the ethos of Circuit of Wales to have a truly transformational impact on the local communities around the development and to ensure south Wales benefits from the job opportunities available.

“My role will be to work closely with Smart Solutions and our training provider Sigma Wales to ensure we achieve our training and recruitment objectives and I am very confident we have the expertise in place to make this happen.”

The Heads of the Valleys Development Company will be announcing in the near future ways in which people can apply for training and job opportunities connected to the project and still plans to be on-site starting construction on the project later this year with the first race taking place in late 2015 / early 2016.
