How mud can help raise money for sick kids

On the 24th of August a six man team from Glasgow company MBN will take on the Tough Mudder&reg challenge in Scotland.  The challenge is to complete a 12 mile run over 26 terrifying obstacles in order to raise at least &pound5,000 for Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

Inspired by personal experience of the fantastic care provided at Yorkhill when his daughter was born earlier this year, MBN MD Michael Young decided that he had to raise money for Yorkhill Children’s Charity. To ensure he raised at least &pound5,000 Michael selected Tough Mudder&reg as a true challenge and one most likely to encourage donations.

“The folks at Yorkhill were there for my family and now it’s my turn to put something back” said Michael Young.

Tough Mudder&reg events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by Special Forces to test all round strength, stamina, determination, and camaraderie. Only 78% of entrants successfully complete each challenge.

Michael will be joined on this adventure by other members of the team ranging in age from 21 to 49. Tough Mudder&reg is not a challenge to be taken lightly and the team have been in training now for over two months. Training ranges from running the streets of Glasgow in lunch hours to sprinting across ploughed fields dragging a tractor tyre.

Kirsten Sinclair, Fundraising Manager at Yorkhill Children’s Charity said: “We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Michael and the team at MBN for all their support and fundraising efforts. &pound5,000 is an incredible amount for the charity, and we would like to wish him and everyone involved the very best of luck for their Tough Mudder challenge in August. Without the support of people like Michael and MBN we simply would not be able to continue providing the services that we do, so thank you very much for choosing Yorkhill Children’s Charity.”
