NES Global Talent Strengthens Subsurface Expertise with New Hire

NES Global Talent, the technical manpower specialist, has appointed subsurface specialist Andrew Carr as Lead Search Consultant in Houston.

Andrew, who previously ran his own recruitment business in Kuala Lumpur and prior to that worked for Oscar Associates, will focus on expanding the company’s permanent recruitment business, sourcing people with geoscience skills as well as growing its pipeline of reservoir, petroleum, drilling and completions engineers.

Talking about why he joined NES Global Talent, Andrew, who has more than six years subsurface experience, said: “Given the way that the oil and gas industry is expanding in the US, especially within the shale gas market, and the growth of NES Global Talent, it was too good an opportunity to miss.

“NES Global Talent is focused not only on delivery but also the quality of that delivery, demonstrated by the various guarantees the company offers, ensuring both its tailored permanent and contract staffing solutions are of the highest possible standards.”

Speaking about the challenges and opportunities in the US subsurface industry, he said: “In the US there are two main areas of focus, deepwater exploration and development and onshore unconventionals, both of which require very different skillsets.  One of the key issues is that there is not only a massive skills shortage, especially in the mid-career range, but that these are two distinct specialisms and there’s difficulty in transferring between the two. In addition, the majority of roles are so specialist that’s it’s not always possible to transfer skills from other industries.

“One of the key advantages NES Global Talent has is its worldwide presence. We are looking to increase repatriation of American candidates back to the US and tap further in to the Canadian talent pool as a lot of the work they do there is transferable to the onshore unconventional work being done here.”

James Bradley, Permanent Hire Recruitment Manager at NES Global Talent, said: “Andrew brings years of experience and expertise to the role as well as tons of enthusiasm and drive. Permanent recruitment is a key part of our business and Andrews’s appointment will help us continue to grow and strengthen the division.

“Our continued success is largely due to our focus on our value proposition – guaranteed staffing solutions, engineered from the global talent pool, by discipline specific consultants – which highlights our ongoing commitment to delivering an exceptional service to both clients and candidates.

“Our global network of 35 offices has been opened strategically within hiring hubs and to mirror the geographical footprint of our key clients, meaning that we can deliver on the complex staffing challenges that others cannot.

“As well as making sure we are in the locations where we are needed most, we work hard to put our clients and candidates at the heart of everything we do. We offer a whole spectrum of client support services, ranging from a payroll service through to a complete recruitment process outsourcing offering, along with additional support to our contractors including global healthcare insurance, visas, security and travel and mobilisation support. It is this people-centric approach and the excellence in which we execute the services that we believe sets us apart.”
