Apsco Responds To The Government Review Of The Executive Search Code Of Conduct

Responding to the news that Vince Cable has announced that the Government is to review the Voluntary Code of Conduct used by executive search companiesduring the board appointment process, Samantha Hurley, Head of External Relations at The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) comments:

“The Code centres on best practice to help address gender diversity on corporate boards.  While APSCo welcomes Government input into the code of practice, we feel that is important that companies do not feel pressured into including women on a shortlist simply to fulfil a quota or tick the diversity box.  It is still imperative that any post is filled by the best person for the job regardless of colour, creed, gender or otherwise.  We absolutely agree that we need more women in senior positions but believe this has to be achieved through encouraging more qualified female applicants rather than placing the emphasis on quota achievement by employers.”
