EPM Scientific Observe an Increase in Demand for Contractors

EPM Scientific part of the Phaidon International group, has observed a trend that privately owned or start up medical device companies are more likely to go directly to independent contractors rather than going through CRO’s first.

“We are already seeing that demand is outweighing supply, which is encouraging firms to hire more freelancers” Luke Newton, Head of EPM Scientific Contracts Team. This trend is expected to continue in the immediate future.

We perceive this trend to lead to professionals in permanent roles being more open to consider independent freelancing roles this seems to be mostly driven by higher earning potential and the opportunity to experience more variety in project types.

“We have observed this trend over an extended period of time, as it is considered a much more cost effective process for smaller companies,” added Emma Morris, Director EPM Scientific. “It provides a positive opportunity for contract recruiters in the Life Sciences Industry, as it is likely to increase hiring and encourage permanent professionals to consider moving from a permanent role to a contract role.”

EPM Scientific is proud to deliver excellence to clients across 43 countries, from regional offices in London, New York, Singapore and Zurich.
