Nhs Professionals Announces Partnership With North Tees And Hartlepool Nhs Foundation Trust

NHS Professionals has been awarded the contract to manage the temporary staffing needs at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

The contract involves providing greater visibility of flexible workforce demand and placing temporary doctors, nurses, midwives, care support workers, healthcare scientists, support services, administration staff and allied health professionals from its bank into the trust. The implementation of the service provided by NHS Professionals will take place in two stages, with full implementation of all staff groups forecasted for December 2013.

The trust currently has no central management system in place, which means it is not possible for managers looking for flexible workers to & lsquo;look across’ the organisation to determine whether there is capacity in the existing staff resources or control centrally overall demand for temporary workers by managing key drivers for usage. NHS Professionals & lsquo;Management Information’ will allow the trust to build a picture of their existing temporary workforce usage patterns and forecast future demand, linking the NHS Professionals IT platform to the trust’s platform to make use of technology. The level of visibility and control which will become available to the trust will also help workforce planning in the migration to the planned new hospital at Wynyard Business Park in 2017, which will require increased flexibility in staffing levels and recruitment.

Existing trust bank staff transferring to the NHS Professionals bank service will also benefit from being paid weekly at the top increment of the band (for Agenda for Change staff), while medical staff will continue to be paid at locally agreed rates. Other benefits include accrual of extra holiday pay and the ability to be able to view shift availability online.

Clare Curran, Director of Human Resources and Education/Company Secretary at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with NHS Professionals and it will make a real difference to our workforce planning, allowing us to make best use of our resources moving forward. NHS Professionals will also help us reduce our recruitment costs, while ensuring improved governance and best practice of its workers.”

Anne Challinor, Director of Client Relations, said: “We are delighted to welcome North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust to NHS Professionals and are looking forward to helping the trust meet its business needs through the coming years.”

NHS Professionals manages flexible worker banks on behalf of some 60 NHS Trusts and has approximately 40,000 nurses, doctors and other healthcare staff, as well as administration and clerical staff signed to its bank.
