Viridium Associates Predict Recruitment in Wind Construction to Increase Next Year

Viridium Associates part of the Phaidon International group, predict an upsurge in recruitment for wind construction projects in America next year.

“There has been little to no hiring in the wind construction area for America this year” Comments James Betteley, Senior Consultant - Viridium Associates. Obama’s new legislation for PTC states that construction on wind farms must commence by December 2013 or they will not receive government tax credits.

Due to lack of activity in construction there has been a limited requirement for companies to use recruitment firms. Yet, given the demand for 2014 and competition that will exist this will increase the need for companies to use specialist recruitment firms.

“This area has been fairly dormant in terms of recruitment in comparison to the transmission industry for example, we expect it to pick up dramatically once the wind farm construction projects begin in 2014” RJ Jayaratne, Business Manager - Viridium Associates

The legislation will require projects to begin by December, which will have a dramatic effect on hiring as the demand for skilled workers becomes more urgent.

“Although the new legislation for PTC has been extended to December 2013, the word & lsquo;construction’ has become somewhat ambiguous. It has been stated that to begin construction developers must have started & lsquo;physical work of a significant nature,’ however there is much debate over what exactly is expected of them by the end of the year.”  James Betteley, Senior Consultant - Viridium Associates.
