Cloud computing offers better work/life balance for Vanquish Recruitment staff

Vanquish Recruitment staff have experienced a better work/life balance since introducing its cloud computing-based hosted desktop solution in 2011.

The ten-strong organisation has also seen financial benefits since using the infrastructure, provided by WorkPlaceLive.

Vanquish’s decision to partner with WorkPlaceLive and move to a hosted desktop solution was was due to its fast growth and subsequent need for a more flexible and maintenance free IT infrastructure.

The integration of the infrastructure was timed to take place over a weekend, there was no business downtime experienced.

Greg Ashmore, director at Vanquish said, “We logged out from our old provider at 5pm on the Friday and were able to log in to the new hosted system first thing on the Monday morning. All the data had been copied across already and we were fully live with all files and emails.”

WorkPlaceLive was also attractive to Vanquish because it would support the company’s growth plans, said Ashmore. He further stated  it was very straightforward to add new people on to the system and importantly, it was also 100% compatible with Bullhorn, the company’s chosen candidate management system.

Additional benefits include the provision and management of all the latest software and security applications by WorkPlaceLive. The company has also reduced its hardware outlay and saved time and money by no longer having to perform any IT maintenance.

Improved work/life balance for consultants

The company is keen to ensure its consultants have a healthy work life balance, so flexible working practices are actively encouraged. Greg Ashmore comments, “Using hosted desktops gives us a lot of flexibility over how we work by making it very easy for people to finish work at home and allowing them to access their own desktops and company data.”

Backups proved agency’s role in recruiting candidate

Vanquish has seen financial benefits too. In recent months the company identified that a candidate they had been working with historically had been employed by their client during their contractual period. Vanquish was eligible to claim its placement fee, but first needed to prove the original source of the candidate’s CV. After discovering its back up had been corrupted, it approached WorkPlaceLive for help.

“Within half an hour of reporting the problem, WorkPlaceLive had retrieved the files we needed which clearly showed Vanquish had sent their client the candidate to them in the first place. This was worth over &pound8,000 to us in fees, demonstrating how commercially valuable the service is,” said Ashmore.

Vanquish believes that adopting cloud computing technology has enabled the company to sustain its competitive advantage.
