A fantastic finale to Finance A-Side

The final fixtures of the BTG Recruitment Finance A-Side Charity football tournament took place on Tuesday 12th November at Powerleague.  with Pricewaterhouse Cooper winning the & lsquo;Champions Cup’ , ITV receiving the & lsquo;Runners Up Cup’ and Chris Jones from Swinton Insurance winning the & lsquo;Player of the Tournament’ trophy.

BTG Recruitment said, "This is the first year BTG Recruitment have run the tournament, and we have raised &pound1000 for The Christie Charity. We have seen swollen ankles, sprained groins and bruised egos... but the tournament has been a massive success. A total of sixteen teams participated in the League this year, all displaying great enthusiasm for the matches and for the cause."

Captain of Winning team Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Luke Burns commented, "We are delighted to have won such a competitive tournament and to be crowned champions of the 2013 Finance A-side. Throughout the 9 weeks of fixtures all of our players enjoyed taking part in a well organised and controlled tournament. Whilst the games were competitive they were also played in Great Spirit which allowed everyone to enjoy their football.

Taking a step back away from the football, it is great to know that PwC, amongst the other entrants, were able to help raise such a significant sum for the Christie Charitable Fund - this is the true success of the tournament. We would like to thank Aaron for his hard work and commitment in making the tournament possible and also to the other competitors for playing the game in the right spirit. We look forward to defending our Finance A-side title next year".

Player of the Tournament winner, Chris Jones, stated, “Firstly, thanks to BTG for running the tournament smoothly and the fact that they raised &pound1000 for Christies is fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and thought it was played in the right spirit throughout. I will certainly be back to play again next year. Finally, congratulations to the worthy winners PwC who beat us in the final.”

Nick Healey, captain of the the ITV team which won the Runner’s Up Cup, said "The team really enjoyed the tournament. It was really competitive but played in the right spirit throughout. The organisation and communication from BTG was excellent and the results website was a really great touch.

It was a great networking opportunity but the most important thing was raising money for an excellent cause - we're already plotting how we can improve our plate win to the full trophy next year!"

Along with the sporting fun, the tournament is held in continuing support of The Christie Charity. Mary McLaughlin of the charity, commented, “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with BTG Recruitment so far this year, they have been incredibly enthusiastic and keen to really get stuck in with their fundraising activities.  This charity football tournament was testament to their dedication, getting out there in the cold and wet Manchester weather week after week to raise vital funds for The Christie.  We would like to say a huge thank you to Aaron for organising the tournament, and to all the companies who took part.  Their support makes a huge difference”

BTG Recruitment added, "We have thoroughly enjoyed the tournament, thrilled with the money raised for The Christie Charitable Fund, and have appreciated all of the teams’ dedication. We look forward to running it again next year."
