Good executive search consultants essential, stresses keynote speakers at AESC conference

Around 100 senior executive search consultants, members of the worldwide Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants (AESC), participated last week in the AESC’s 17th Annual European Conference “East Meets West – The Executive Talent Challenge in Rapid Growth Markets” in Istanbul.

Speaking at the event, Selcuk Yorgancioglu, Partner & Regional Head for Turkey & Central Asia at the Abraaj Group, stressed that “a good executive search consultant is at least as important as a good investment banker, since search consultants—especially in the private equity market —play a critical role in finding and recruiting the best possible people who will help grow the business with you.”

H&uumlseyin Akin, President, International Operations, Coca Cola Icecek A.S., explained some of the business and HR challenges he is facing in leading a profitable organization of 8,350 employees in nine countries across Central Asia, Middle East and Pakistan.

G&uumllfem &Ccedilakmak&ccedili, General Manager, Lenovo Turkey, shared her personal journey and outlined some of the biases which female executives have to overcome to reach the top of corporations. Also taking part in the event were Turhan Turhangil, Middle East Zone President, Schneider Electric, Tolga Ulutas, Country Managing Director, Accenture Turkey, Arif G&uumlrdenli, Head of Talent & Rewards, Towers Watson Turkey as well as G&uumlls&uumlm Azeri, CEO, OMV Petrol Ofisi and Board member of Turkish Airlines.
