Omega Resource Group sponsors local industry festival
The Stroud Festival of Manufacturing and Engineering (Festomane) is a five-day event that supports and showcases the district's strong engineering and manufacturing heritage.
The free festival will include a series of events for all ages to celebrate the past and encourage younger generations to consider a career in manufacturing and engineering.
The festival's mission is to highlight Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing (STEM) related opportunities in Stroud where one in every five jobs falls within the manufacturing and engineering sector.
The Festival boasts a series of events across the week starting with a FREE to attend, two-day exhibition spanning Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th November. During the exhibition local engineering and manufacturing employers and organisations will showcase their businesses, unveil plans for the future and current employment opportunities.
Omega will be supporting the exhibition and presenting at the "Employing People" event on Thursday 14th November at Stonehouse Court Hotel 6:30pm to 9pm. The reception is open to all local small or medium sized businesses who are considering employing more people. The evening will demonstrate the support available for businesses who have thought about taking on extra people, for the business and the community and how easy the process can be.
Speaking at the event will be Alan Beresford, CEO of Omega Resource Group. He commented, "Events like these are essential if we are to help grow Stroud and the South West region as a leading centre for manufacturing and engineering. There are plenty of employment opportunities available - however in order to avoid a skills shortage in the future, local festivals such as Festomane play a vital role and demonstrate some of the opportunities in the area. These initiatives especially drum up interest in children and school leavers and inform them of the value of working towards a career in manufacturing and engineering.”
The festival is set to become a national template of best practice for companies concerned about a lack of skilled employees and seeking solutions to help make them competitive in home and world markets.
