Orion Group backs ultimate rugby team
Orion Group, the largest international and independent personnel provider has given its full backing to a team of rugby players as they embark on a competition taking on some of the best sides in the world on 28-30 November at a tournament in Dubai.
The Orion Group Ultimate Rugby Sevens Team Academy side will take part in the three day competition against teams from around the globe. Orion Group, the only sponsor of the side, will provide its full backing to players who could possibly end up competing for Great Britain in the Olympic Games in Rio 2016.
The side was chosen from players who attended UR7s Academies at Llandovery and Wellington College, with those taking part gaining valuable experience of touring at national competitions, giving individuals the chance to play against some of the best sides in the world in a high class environment with top quality coaching.
Tom Burwell, CEO of Ultimate Rugby Sevens, said, “We have seen some incredible talent come through the UR7s Academy in 2013 and we are excited to now take some of that talent to Dubai for the young players to continue their rugby 7s development in a competitive environment.
“This would not be possible without the support of Orion Group. The young lads will be up against it but with world class coaching and training, we are quietly confident of doing well in such a great tournament.”
Scott Burns-Smith, head of marketing & comms, said, “The squad will be able to take part in training sessions with international players and experienced trainers, and will gain an insight into the life of a professional rugby 7s player on the tour while developing an understanding into what is required of players at the highest level. We wish them all the best and are proud to continue our support of some of the best young talent in the United Kingdom.”
