Retail Human Resources stress retail upturn
As figures published by Reed reveal that the overall jobs market is enjoying growth with the number of vacancies at a five-year high, please find comments below from Peter Burgess, managing director at Retail Human Resources - the longest standing recruitment business specialising specifically in the retail industry.
Burgess points to record vacancy levels in the retail sector with October being the company’s second highest vacancy level ever.
Burgess commented, “Our own figures in the retail sector also point to much improved conditions. In fact, our vacancy levels are now at their highest since 2006 with October being our second highest vacancy level ever and we have been in operation for 25 years now and have weathered the storm of two recessions. There is a clear confidence across the retail sector where employers across the UK now look to hire new staff, grow their business and support what is a much-strengthened economy. In terms of specific appointments in retail, we have also seen first-hand that vacancy levels for store management positions as well as a full raft of head office based positions is now at its highest levels since September 2008 when the recession hit and impacted the market. In fact, vacancy numbers have risen by 196 per cent in September 2013 compared to the same month last year. This is all very good news for businesses, employees and job seekers up and down the country.”
