GCS named on most inspiring SME list
Published by the London Stock Exchange the list has been released in an effort to highlight the importance of SMEs to the future of the economy,
The inaugural publication of 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain demonstrates a diverse economy with more than 100 sectors being represented but, when it comes to recruitment, only 22 companies have been selected - one of which is GCS.
"It is thrilling to be held in such high regards by a business authority such as the LSE" said GCS managing director David Bloxham. "It's fantastic to see them championing the role that SMEs have played in the growth of the post-recession economy, and encouraging people to get behind these companies in the future."
Inclusion on the list was determined by growth in revenue over the last 4 years, as well as increase in employee numbers and workspace - all of which have occurred at GCS. Both turnover and gross profit have increased impressively since 2009, the company has increased headcount by approximately 25% and opened a new division (Financial Services recruitment) as well as a new office in Dublin.
In his letter to companies featured in the list, CEO of the LSE Group, Xavier Rolet, observed that their own research has shown that the vast majority of new, net job creation in the UK since the financial crisis has come from SMEs. Rolet also comments on the importance of nurturing, supporting and encouraging these companies, noting that many of them have the potential to be the "blue chips of tomorrow".
