Parasol publishes guide to offshore employment intermediaries legislation
The free, downloadable PDF guide has been produced by Parasol, the leading provider of outsourced employment solutions to some of the UK’s largest professional staffing firms.
The Offshore Employment Intermediaries legislation, due to come into force in April 2014, seeks to close a tax loophole whereby the employment of UK-based workers is outsourced to overseas companies with a view to avoiding employment taxes.
Under the new rules, ultimate responsibility for a worker’s employment taxes will lie with recruitment firms (as opposed to end clients). Therefore, any agency that has offshore arrangements in place within its supply chain could find itself hit with an unexpected debt.
Cheshire-based Parasol has welcomed the proposed legislation, and is calling for tough action to ensure it is enforced properly.
The company’s new guide, which can be downloaded here, addresses key questions such as:
• In light of the new legislation, what can a recruitment agency do to protect itself?
• How could a preferred supplier list (PSL) help to safeguard an agency?
• What should an agency look for in an outsourced employment provider?
