Simplyco supports Danicas Dream Fund
The charity helps familiies who are caring for children with cancer and was set up in the memory of teenager Danica Maxwell, who died of cancer in 2010.
Employees at the firms’ Cumbria HQ were so moved by Danica’s story that they wanted to help and with Christmas coming agreed this was the perfect way to make a donation.
In addition staff have joined a growing number of people, which includes many celebrities, in buying and wearing wrist bands which celebrate Danica’s short but meaningful life.
“Our staff and customers are right behind us,” explained Simplyco manager, Paul Murphy.
“We knew they would support us with this and we hope our activities will help to raise the profile of Danica’s Dream Fund and encourage other firms and individuals to do the same thing. We will be sending them an e-card, though, with a link to the dream fund’s Facebook page."
The cheque for £1,000 was presented to John Maxwell, Danica's father, during his visit to Simplyco's head office in Cockermouth, Cumbria. John said, “We are very pleased to accept this donation, it means a lot to us and it will go a long way."
