Spencer Ogden launches Cape Town office
This brings the global energy recruitment agency’s total number of offices worldwide to eleven.
David Spencer-Percival, CEO, commented, “We have adopted an aggressive growth strategy since Spencer Ogden was founded in 2010 and are dedicated to servicing our clients across the globe, wherever we are needed the most.”
“The energy sector in Sub-Saharan Africa is booming and this growth is set to continue due to the immense potential displayed by the region’s drilling and exploration sectors. Sub-Saharan Africa has a big part to play in the future of the energy sector and Spencer Ogden is committed to fuelling this growth.” Spencer-Percival continues.
The Cape Town office will be headed up by Chris McPherson. McPherson brings with him a wealth of experience in the energy recruitment sector having worked specifically in oil and gas recruitment for seven years prior to joining Spencer Ogden.
Speaking of his move, McPherson says: “I am delighted to have joined Spencer Ogden at a time when it is undergoing a period of intense growth. Africa is the fastest growing continent in the world in terms of economic growth and overseas investment, even more so than China. This makes it the perfect moment to launch in this region and I am excited to be a part of that.”
McPherson is joined by six consultants in the Cape Town office, but this number is set to increase with the opening of its first Spencer Ogden Graduate Academy in February 2014.
Spencer Ogden will also service the energy sector in Mozambique where it will be supported by Portuguese speaking management in the form of Miguel Albuquerque. Like McPherson, Albuquerque brings with him extensive experience in the recruitment sector, having held senior positions at both Michael Page International and Experis.
Commenting on the challenges Spencer Ogden will help to overcome in the region, Albuquerque states: "As is the case in many regions, the energy sector in Africa is facing a skills gap crisis. Our clients rely on us, and Spencer Ogden is committed to finding the best talent available, both locally and internationally, in order to overcome this issue.”
“We are delighted to have McPherson and Albuquerque on board” says Spencer-Percival. “They both come with a wealth of experience and knowledge and we very much look forward to seeing them in action as we expand our presence in Sub-Saharan Africa.”
“2013 has been an exceptionally busy year for us we have launched four new offices and expanded our global headcount to over 260. But we aren’t going to rest on our laurels, you can expect more announcements and exciting news from us in 2014” Spencer-Percival concludes.
