The hunt for analytics talent to hot-up in 2014

Company managers recognise the benefits that big data can bring, consequently the rush to make use of big data shows no sign of slowing. A survey of 600 companies in the US and UK conducted in 2012 found that two-thirds had appointed a senior figure to lead data management and analytics in the past 18 months. With companies the world-over now recognising the importance of job roles in measurement and analytics, this number is expected to increase steadily in 2014.

ClockworkTalent points to the dramatic increase in brands running mobile ad campaigns which enables them to hyper-target existing customers in real-time. “The knock on effect is the demand for comprehensive analytics becoming more and more paramount,” comments Natasha Woodford, ClockworkTalent Director.

“However, most agencies and brands recognise they don’t have enough of these skillsets and experience under their roof and are turning to specialist recruiters to expand their talent pool with these skills,” she continues. “We noticed an increase in Mobile and Analytics jobs in Q4 of 2013 and only anticipate this increasing.”

Natasha concludes: “Specific qualifications don’t exist for the mobile channel – although many educational institutes such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and University’s Digital Media Diplomas and Degrees dedicate modules specifically to Mobile Marketing. At some point we imagine Google will release some qualification to benchmark individual skill in this area.

“Accordingly, ensuring you gain accreditation for Google Analytics with the Individual Qualification would be an important advantage when job seeking in the future digital marketing job industry as it will be very competitive. A natural desire for data, attention for detail and information analysis is also a natural advantage. When looking for career advancement having industry qualifications are always important and candidates should seize the opportunity to compound their professional experience with qualifications and accreditations.”
