Alium Partners appoints head of new FMCG manufacturing practice
Hutchinson is launching Alium’s FMCG Manufacturing Practice, placing skilled interim and permanent executives with manufacturers and retailers in the highly regulated food and drinks sector, which faces increasing pressure to compete on price and product quality.
Commenting on his new roll, Hutchinson says, “Now is an exciting time to join Alium Partners at this difficult period of transformation for the food and drinks industry. During the downturn, the rising costs of energy and demand for lower prices from consumers caused considerable instability in the sector. We have seen this in the shakeup of the major supermarkets, in particular by the low cost discounters like Aldi and Lidl.
“Food & drinks manufacturers have a need for profound change to drive efficiency, but in the current environment, leaner budgets require smarter, faster solutions. Manufacturers are using interims to fill talent gaps in times of need and deliver solutions, whether in areas of supply chain management or vital R&D. They are also seeking permanent team members as confidence slowly returns, which we are facilitating as part of our “beyond interim” offering.”
The Alium Partners FMCG Manufacturing Practice services manufacturers and retailers from the food and drinks sector, ranging from SMEs to FTSE 100 companies.
Alium Partners’ professionals provide services to FMCG Manufacturing providers in areas such as improving operational efficiency, entering new markets, turnarounds, project management & transformation.
Hutchinson has nearly two decades of experience recruiting interim and permanent roles for some of the best known brands in the UK FMCG manufacturing sector. Since 2005, he has led two market leading consultancies, specialising in providing interim managers to the UK food & drink industry.
Nigel Peters, managing partner at Alium Partners, said, “We are delighted to welcome Scott on board at Alium Partners as head of the new FMCG Manufacturing Practice. Scott has a deep understanding of the issues facing the food and drinks sector, and an unrivalled track record in the providing effective recruitment solutions to this sector.”
