Athona's Great Gatsby charity ball is a roaring success

The event, held at Woolston Manor Golf & Country Club in Chigwell, Essex saw a host of familiar faces including guests of honour World Champion and Olympian Derek Redmond, model and TV personality Jodie Marsh, former X Factor finalist Nicholas Dorsett and Essex Factor runner up, Chris Daley who both performed on the evening.

With overwhelming support from employees, local companies and 180 guests on the evening, Athona look set to have raised &pound4,000 from the ball, which will go a long way to supporting  the specialist care that Little Havens provides to babies, children and teenagers with a life-limiting illness. Alongside Nick and Chris, entertainment included a performance from dance students at Renee’s School of Dance and Performing Arts as well as a Great Gatsby photo booth and casino.

Athona Recruitment have set themselves a mammoth target to raise &pound10,000 for Little Havens Hospice within 12 months. Athona employees have so far held a quiz, cycled for 24 hours on an exercise bike in their boardroom, taken part in the London marathon and in July, take part in the London to Paris cycle challenge.

Tina London, Director, Athona comments: “I’m overjoyed with the success of Athona’s Great Gatsby charity ball, especially with how much money we raised for Little Havens.  As Athona’s nominated charity of the year, we will continue to help raise support for them and are delighted with our current fundraising total of over &pound8,000 for the charity.”

Athona Recruitment has chosen Little Havens Hospice as its Charity of the Year. Over the course of a year, Athona employees will raise vitally needed funds for Little Havens through various fundraising activities. It is estimated that it will cost over &pound2.5 million in 2013/14 to continue to provide the service Little Havens offer.

Little Havens Hospice opened in March 1998 as a result of the founders of Fair Havens Hospice identifying a need for children’s hospice care in Essex for life-limited children and their families throughout the journey of their illness. At the hospice, parents, carers and siblings benefit immeasurably from the home-from-home environment, in which they can take a break from the strain of constant care, and concentrate on being a family.

Little Havens Hospice is part of Havens Hospices, which incorporates Fair Havens Hospice for adults.

Athona is a specialist recruitment provider to the Medical, Education, Health and Nursing markets securing ourselves as experts in the niche areas we recruit in.
