Engineering and ICT skills in short supply across Wales IntaPeople response
A barometer for the strength of the Welsh economy, the survey reveals that over the next three months 95 per cent of businesses are looking to either retain their existing workforce or recruit.
This is the highest figure in the last seven years and consistent across Wales. It also found that 61 per cent expect profits to increase over the next year.
However, the South Wales Chamber of Commerce survey also found more than half had problems recruiting, especially in computer technology and engineering.
Speaking to BBC Wales Today, IntaPeople Director Phil Handley commented: “In Engineering, we have engineers who are looking to retire at the moment and we have engineers at the graduate level. But there’s a gap in the middle between the ages of 25 and 45.
