Adecco to kick-start the careers of 100 young people
Adecco is offering 100 placements across the world, four within the UK, and one of the successful entrants will get the unique chance to become the Global CEO of Adecco Group for one month.
According to new research from Adecco, over a third (35%) of young people did not complete any work experience at school and over half (54%) cite a lack of work experience as the main reason they have not secured a job. The & lsquo;Adecco Experience’ offers young people the chance to gain this much needed work experience.
The launch of the initiative follows Adecco’s & lsquo;Way to Work’ campaign, where in the UK and Ireland over 500 recruitment advisors hit the streets and visited schools, colleges and universitieslast month to give advice to young people and job seekers who are trying to get into the world of work.
The four work experience roles available are:
· The role of Business Administration Assistant for the London Fire Brigade where you will assist with the smooth running of the headquarters building and facilities, provide support to the Head of Service and help with major procurement projects.
· The role of Accounts Assistant at Oxley Group in Cumbria, which makes lighting and electronics for the military and rail industries. You’ll support the Finance Department and help to manage the company’s cash flow.
· A Customer Service role at Arco in Hull, a supplier of safety equipment. The role will ensure the company’s National Distribution Centre in Hull and the Arco Clothing Centre in Preston have the correct levels of stock to fulfil orders.
· An Administrator role at a well-known large public sector company where you will provide reception, clerical and data processing services.
Applicants are also being offered the unique opportunity of becoming the Global CEO of Adecco Group for one month under the direct supervision of the Global CEO, Patrick De Maeseneire. Selection will be made in July from among those candidates who successfully land a one-month job through the Adecco Experience.

Alex Fleming, managing director, Adecco, commented, “Our research has shown that a lack of work experience is still acting as the main barrier for many young people in their search for a job. With experience often seen as essential in securing even an entry level interview, it is not fair that so many are being held back.
“Young people deserve quality work experience and it is fantastic that Adecco is launching this competition to help them get their first step on the jobs ladder. The placements on offer are a brilliant opportunity to gain paid experience in a great company, while at the same time have the chance to be exposed to something completely unique. Not everyone can say they have tried their hand at being Adecco Group’s CEO!”
