APSCo adopts FCSA Code of Conduct
The trade association has also expanded its compliance procedures to include an international questionnaire for all providers which offer similar services outside of the UK.
In a move that not only supports the self-regulation of umbrella providers, but has also been welcomed by HMRC, APSCo’s new compliance review continues to require an ever-increasing level of compliance from its umbrella affiliate members. Following consultation with the Government, HMRC commented that:
“It [HMRC] welcomes any initiative to improve voluntary compliance in the temporary labour market, and indeed supporting businesses to comply voluntarily with their obligations is a key element of HMRC’s compliance strategy. Accordingly, any initiatives by APSCo to encourage and support voluntary compliance by APSCo members is to be welcomed.”
APSCo’s international compliance questionnaire which all affiliate members providing services outside of the UK will be required to complete before membership is granted, will offer reassurance that they show no obvious hallmarks of practices which might be in breach of tax or other laws.
Samantha Hurley – Head of External Affairs and Compliance at APSCo comments:
“By adopting the FCSA’s Code of Conduct we are taking further steps to help protect our members following the new employment intermediaries legislation, as well as continuing our support of the robust self-regulation by umbrella providers. We also strongly believe that the addition of the international compliance questionnaire will further demonstrate our commitment to all members.”
