APSCos Dubai trade delegation hailed a resounding success
The three-day trip involved APSCo members attending presentations on the various implications that they would face if they expanded to the region, such as tax, legal and compliance issues.
The delegation also gave attendees the chance to network with those that had already expanded into the area, which for DCL Search & Selection’s Arthur Mina, was one of the most valuable benefits. “It’s easy to say what you might experience if everything goes perfectly, but at the trade delegation we were able to get a first-hand account of what other recruiters had experienced in the UAE,” he commented. “I would say that in three days the exhibition covered what would have taken us three months to research.”
The trip clearly identified that there is an appetite amongst recruiters to expand to the Middle East, with optimism being generated in the run up to the 2020 World Expo in Dubai. This was noted by delegate Mike Smart of Allium Partners who commented, “For a small business which has survived the recession, such as ourselves, the UAE offers a fantastic opportunity. We wanted to know how to open the right type of business and the trade delegation was a no-brainer.”
