Search picks up health and safety honour
Its Search Outsourcing Solutions division has scooped a silver award in the prestigious annual scheme – it will be presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel later this month.
The accolade, which recognises general health and safety management, is being awarded in response to the company’s first ever application to the awards category.
RoSPA’s mission is to save lives and reduce injuries covering all stages of life. Its awards, which date back 58 years, recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work.
The awards scheme is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, and its judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
Adam Mathews, health and safety manager at Search, said: “This is the first time we have entered the RoSPA Awards so we are thrilled to be recognised.
“We are committed to meeting the highest of health and safety standards across our UK network of 13 offices and workforce of more than 500, and the RoSPA award is testament to that.”
David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “The RoSPA Awards encourage the raising of occupational health and safety standards across the board. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems such as Search Consultancy contribute to a collective raising of the bar for other organisations to aspire to, and we offer them our congratulations.”
The majority of RoSPA’s awards are non-competitive, grading achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Organisations that maintain high standards in consecutive years can win gold medals, president’s awards and orders of distinction.
Competitive awards are presented in more than 20 industry sectors, and they also recognise excellence in specialist areas, such as the management of occupational road risk (MORR).
