Sugarman Group opens office in Perth, Australia
The Group already has a successful base in Sydney but is looking to take advantage of a 30 per cent uplift in demand from employers in Western Australia, particularly for temporary workers.
Established in 1986, The Sugarman Group is a leader in medical, education and social work recruitment, with clients in both the private and public sectors. Headquartered in London, the Group established an international offering in 2009 with its office in Sydney and now has significant operations across the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The company has seen sales increase by 50 per cent in the last two years alone. The Sugarman Group was acquired by multi-brand recruitment giant, Cordant Group plc, in February 2014.
The Perth office will be headed up by existing Australian Managing Director, Melissa D’Auria, who has more than 13 years senior experience in the recruitment market. Melissa joined The Sugarman Group in the UK from Capita Education Resourcing before re-locating back to Australia to head up operations there.
The priority for the Perth office will be to capitalise on the huge growth for both temporary and permanent workers in The Sugarman Group’s specialised markets. New legislation has led to significant demand for early years teachers in particular, as since this year every school or nursery is required to have a qualified practitioner in every classroom. In addition, there has been a major investment by the Australian Government into social care and particularly mental health services, again leading to demand for social and mental health workers.
As well as developing relationships with Australian candidates, the Group is also keen to promote Australian jobs to UK professionals who might benefit from enhancing their experience and skills abroad. It can offer support and advice on all aspects of working in Australia.
