FCSA announces code reviewer appointments
In addition to the new appointments, FCSA is retaining the services of its current reviewers, EY and CRS Solicitors.
All FCSA code assessors are either Chartered Accountants or Regulated Solicitors, and have demonstrable experience of specialising in the freelance sector.
FCSA chief executive, Julia Kermode, said, “We wanted to recruit more code assessors to offer potential members a choice, which we feel is important. FCSA is a growing organisation, and it makes sense to increase our code assessors alongside this, and we also benefit from a broader pool of knowledge and expertise.”
Teresa Payne and Ed Dwan, tax partners from BDO commented that they were, “Looking forward to working together with the FCSA and its members, both existing and new, to continue and enhance the FCSA’s reputation for high standards of compliance in the complex and evolving Freelance sector.”
BDO is the world’s 5th largest accountancy and business advisory firm, providing services to businesses within the UK and worldwide. They have significant experience of all aspects of employment tax matters, and have advised the recruitment sector on the numerous tax legislation changes over the past 15 years.
Working alongside BDO, Brabners will cover the legal elements of the FCSA code. Brabners are nationally recognised experts in the law relating to the recruitment sector, and will work alongside BDO to provide the specialist legal element of FCSA code reviews.
Paul Chamberlain, employment law partner at Brabners, said, “It is a great pleasure to be associated with FCSA and to support them in the expansion of the organisation. We are sure that our industry expertise, which they have recognised, will be of invaluable assistance to them and their members.”
Saffery Champness is one of the UK’s top firms of chartered accountants and business advisors, which has focussed on the recruitment sector since 2008, and undertaken compliance reviews of intermediaries since 2011.
Simon Kite, partner at Saffery Champness, said, “We have followed the work of the FCSA very closely since it was set up. It has developed a reputation for promoting the highest standards of compliance and we are therefore extremely proud to have been recognised as a firm of accountants with the knowledge and skills to help maintain those standards.”
CRS Solicitors will partner Saffery Champness to cover the legal aspects of the FCSA code. CRS Solicitors are a niche practice advising predominately in the recruitment industry, and an experienced FCSA reviewer, having worked alongside EY in recent years.
Kermode concluded, “We are delighted with the appointments, and we know that FCSA reviews will continue to be stringent, testing compliance to the highest possible standard.”
