McGregor Boyall launches North West operation
The company is no stranger to the region having executed a significant amount of business in the North West over a number of years from its City and Edinburgh bases which, according to Managing Director Laurie Boyall, means that they can leverage some very strong client relationships.
“We are now reaping the benefits of our diversification strategy which began in 2012, when we invested in new offices in Dubai, Singapore and Edinburgh, attracted new hires from Hudson, Huxley, Robert Half and Aston Carter and also saw the expansion our Commerce & Industry division. This is now really impacting positively on our bottom line and our decision to open in Manchester is a reflection of a growing client base in the region. The North West is attracting a great deal of foreign investment – you’ve got the multi-million pound investment by Abu Dhabi into the regeneration of East Manchester and Liverpool is pitching aggressively to Chinese investors and is planning to build the country’s highest skyscraper outside London, named “Shanghai Tower”.
Initial hires include Rob Riley who will manage the new office and who is well networked in the Manchester area. He joins from Hudson and has over 12 years’ experience in recruitment, mainly in the technology sector – an area the new office will initially focus on.
“The plan is to grow the office to around five people in the first six months – and while technology remains a lynchpin of the business, we’re finding that if we are recruiting technology professionals into an energy company, for example, they are asking if we can cover other areas as well. So we’d expect to be diversifying the mix to replicate our other offices in the not too distant future to include disciplines such as HR, Marketing and Procurement & Supply Chain.”
