The Search is on to fill construction jobs
The project, led by the Merseylink Consortium, will see a six lane toll bridge built over the Mersey between the towns of Runcorn and Widnes.
Work got underway in May and is expected to be completed by autumn 2017.
Search Consultancy, a multi-sector recruitment specialist with 20 years' construction industry experience, has been appointed as a Tier 1 supplier and has been tasked with finding staff to fill a variety of posts.
While the majority of the roles will be in construction – from unskilled and skilled tradespeople through to technical and managerial roles – a number of head office roles in areas including accountancy, will also be available. All posts will be based in the North West.
Mike Bower, Director of Construction and Technical of Search across England said “We’re delighted to be linked to such a scheme as the Mersey Gateway. It’s not every day that we’re able to play such a key role on such a significant project and we’re very grateful for the opportunity.
“We’re looking forward to making a significant impact on the region’s labour market by offering opportunities to people near to the scheme. Where there’s need to venture further afield, we’ll be looking to use our experience and extensive networks to source the best possible candidates in the market.”
Debbie Caswell, managing director of Search Consultancy's offices across the North and Midlands, said, "Search has significantly grown our Construction business over the last 5 years despite challenging market conditions and we are delighted to be involved with such an exciting project. Our specialist construction division will be looking for staff with a range of different skills and experience for this project which, as well as creating jobs, is expected to bring economic, transport and social benefits to the region."
In total the Mersey Gateway Project is expected to create 470 permanent full time equivalent jobs during construction, 4,640 permanent and indirect jobs.
