New acquisition for Berry Recruitment
The purchase gives the fast-growing business another branch in the capital and expertise in the rail, gas, electricity and telecoms markets.
It also brings into the Berry stable some blue-chip clients including First Group, Stagecoach, GoVia and Virgin.
With the acquisition, Berry has achieved annual turnover of £50m and its ambitions are to double that in three years through organic growth and further purchases.
The company, headquartered in St Albans, Herts, made £1m profit last year and expects that figure to rise when accounts for the current year are published.
Mainline, which includes the specialist division Express Rail Services, has ten staff at its King’s Cross office in London, but the number of employees will soon increase.
Tony Berry, Chairman of Berry Recruitment who negotiated the deal, said: “Mainline is a company we have been aware of for some time.
“The acquisition boosts our turnover by about £5m and gives us entry into the rail sector, which is growing quickly across the country with some major projects planned.
“We aim to quickly expand the new acquisition through investment and new staff.
“Mainline has some big clients and we will continue to develop those relationships.”
Chris Chown, Managing Director of Berry, said: “This acquisition represents an important strategic move for us as we grow and diversify.
“We have 28 branches across the country and are looking to build on the new sectors that Mainline brings to the company.”
Justin Ayling, Operations Manager at Mainline, said: “This deal benefits both businesses it gives Berry entry into new areas and it gives us a wide geographical spread in order to better service the needs of our clients.
“Already we have benefited from internal communication across the group and the future is exciting to say the least.”
