New leadership

In July 2014, ARM changed its operational structure to more closely align its business with market dynamics. These changes saw ARM’s top home-grown talent appointed to MD positions within the brand:

&middot      John Dunaway, who joined ARM in 2004, was appointed Divisional MD for Specialist Markets and manages ARM’s specialist niche divisions: Infrastructure & Built Environment, Specialist Engineering, Automotive, Information Security & Communications and Technology. John also oversees ARM’s regional offices in London, Aberdeen, Bristol and Coventry.

&middot      Leon Howgill, who joined the company in 2000, is now Divisional MD for ARM’s new Corporate Services division, managing two teams that focus on providing account management to ARM’s larger IT and Engineering clients.

&middot      Mike Gawthorne, ARM’s CEO, maintains in direct control of ARM Oil & Gas due to the specific challenges and opportunities of the market.

Commenting on John and Leon’s appointments, Mike Gawthorne, CEO of ARM and the Serocor Group said:

A focus on fun

With the changes at the top in place, ARM’s next focus was to re-embed its 3 Ps brand promises: Passion, Partnership and Professionalism.

After refresher workshops with all staff, a selfie competition was launched ARM employees were encouraged to pick either Passion, Partnership or Professionalism, and to take a selfie photo or make a short video to demonstrate what it meant to them.

A panel of judges from ARM and its clients convened in London on 17th September to select the competition winners, who were announced at ARM’s quarterly company meeting. The winning entries for Passion, Partnership and Professionalism now feature on ARM’s website and its social media channels. Each winner has received a place on ARM’s next incentive trip – a European mini break – with each runner up receiving a &pound50 gift voucher.

Better together

In the spirit of Partnership, walls were broken down – both physical and metaphorically – at ARM’s Havant HQ as the company moved to a new open-plan layout in September. The ARM team now shares the same office space as Serocor Solutions, the Serocor group’s centralised service provision firm, encouraging a more collaborative and relaxed working atmosphere.

The office changes include a bright new colour scheme, zoned desk areas, an open plan meeting area with blackboard wall, plus a breakout area for taking lunch.

A new lease on life at ARM

Havant has been the home to ARM since 2002, with the group’s Serocor Solutions and Optamor brands joining in 2013. To confirm its commitment to the local economy, the Serocor Group recently signed a new 5-year lease on its Havant HQ in Langstone Technology Park. In addition to Havant, the Group’s regional locations include Aberdeen, Bristol, Coventry and London for ARM, plus Bournemouth for Bloc Digital Talent and Hawker Chase Executive.

Commenting on the changes, Mike Gawthorne said, “With our new divisional MDs, John and Leon, in post we were keen to get back to basics, to reinvigorate our 3 Ps of Passion, Partnership and Professionalism, and to put the fun back into working for ARM. As a business, we work hard and we play hard, so we wanted a working environment that lived up to this. The office redesign and selfie competition have helped kick-start this campaign and I’m very pleased with the buzz that it’s created across the company. After all, great people deserve a great place to work and I believe that ARM delivers this.”
