Pentland Brands scoops top prize at 2014 CIPD People Management Awards

Delivered in partnership with People Management magazine, these prestigious awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievement in people management and learning and development.

The Awards are divided into nineteen categories and are open to all types of organisations, regardless of size or sector. The winners represent outstanding achievement and contribution to business sustainability and success. This year, Craig Scriven, HR Business Partner, Resources Group at Warwickshire County Council, was voted for by the public to scoop the Award in new category & lsquo;HR & L&D professional of the year.’

Pentland Brands, the fashion and sportswear brands company, was crowned as the overall winner for its campaign to bring together employees working across different brands, which saw all 19,000 staff members in workshops, unpicking silo-strewn working practices. 98% now say they understand the company’s vision, and 84% describe it as a great place to work. They also now use a new & lsquo;SMART’ way of working, co - created between staff and HR professionals to help achieve the right balance between results and people-centeredness.

Commenting on the Awards, Peter Cheese, Chief Executive at CIPD, said: “Congratulations to all our winners and finalists of this year’s Awards, who highlight the remarkable work HR professionals are doing to improve the quality of work and working lives. It’s fantastic to see so many examples of brilliant and inspiring people management and leadership.

“I am delighted by the way our winners are tackling such a serious and broad range of challenges – from strategic change, to ensuring genuine diversity and inclusion, to innovative talent management practices.

“A big thank you to all our judges and sponsors who made the evening possible.”
