Generating growth and innovation are the biggest challenges for UK businesses, finds research
This is the view of 53% of the more than 100 interims polled.
Respondents say that skills shortages are the second key issue facing businesses today, followed by cost pressures and access to funding.
The views of the senior interim community provide a strong indicator of business sentiment as they are at the coal face of organisations and typically brought in to drive forward specific projects and programmes as companies seek to bring about lasting change and transformation.
Nigel Peters, Managing Partner of Alium Partners, said: “As a result of the positive economic indicators in the UK, generating growth and new ideas is now a key objective for many businesses. The market’s message is very clear from the steady increase in demand we have seen in recent months for interims and contingent professionals that have strong experience of business building out of previous recessions. Skill shortages go hand-in-hand with growth and forward thinking organisations are working hard to make themselves attractive to talent.”
