Now Education supporting schools with safeguarding

Alex Westworth, managing director, Now Education, said: “This training opportunity is our way of providing a helping hand to schools in equipping teachers with vital training in a key area for their children. We work closely with our teachers and safeguarding has been identified as a key recurring issue which is at the forefront of schools at the moment.

“As schools are central to producing the employees of the future, we feel that businesses should aim to provide support to schools in whatever respect they can. As a previous business teacher, I fully understand the role which educational establishments play in producing a safe environment for a child and having the right level of information and training is crucial to success.”

Safeguarding is a key component of OFSTED inspections, in brief schools are assessed on the environment provided for children and young people to learn. This will take into consideration the way in which leaders and managers in schools deal with the promotion of welfare and time scales in place to deal with incidents. One teacher who completed the course said: “The course was great it was really good in keeping you updated with your knowledge. I completed all the six modules and at the end there was a quiz I scored 20 out of 20. Thanks for the opportunity.”

As part of regulations schools must provide their teachers with regular and updated training on child safeguarding.
