Omega Resource Group sponsors local festival celebrating manufacturing and engineering
The festival will be opened by HRH Prince of Wales on Monday 24th November and runs through to Saturday 28th November.
Festomane committee members Alan Beresford, CEO, and Jane Smith, HR advisor, both of Stonehouse-headquartered Omega Resource Group, will be attending the five-day event. Beresford has been involved with the committee since the inception of Festomane in 2012 established by the Stroud MP Neil Carmichael.
The Stroud Festival of Manufacturing and Engineering (Festomane) is a five-day event that supports and showcases the district's strong engineering and manufacturing heritage. The free festival will include a series of events for all ages to celebrate the past and encourage younger generations to consider a career in manufacturing and engineering. The festival's mission is to highlight Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing (STEM) related opportunities in Stroud where one in every five jobs falls within the manufacturing and engineering sector.
With 24% of jobs in the Stroud constituency in engineering and manufacturing, events like Festomane are essential for raising awareness for the available STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing) opportunities in the region.
Alan Beresford commented: "Events like Festomane do a fantastic job of promoting and showcasing all types of Stroud District's manufacturing and engineering heritage and prowess. Not only does it demonstrate the diverse range of opportunities available to those with STEM backgrounds, Festomane also helps encourage school children to consider taking up a career in engineering and manufacturing. We're proud to be a sponsor and look forward to doing so for many years to come."
