Select Appointments's Caroline Deutsch goes full circle

During the past 14 years Caroline has worked as a marketing communications professional for a number of agencies in St Albans and London but has always had a yearning to be her own boss.

“I felt that joining a franchise would offer me a greater chance of success than going out completely on my own.  I am good at client liaison and building relationships and I also found recruitment an exciting sector to work in,” explained Caroline.

She added, “I researched a number of recruitment franchises and went to a discovery day at Select.  I was very impressed by their professionalism, friendly approach and their passion for the core values they stand for.  Everyone I met there came across as transparent, open and honest.  Since day one the team at head office has bent over backwards to help me set up the business dealing with everything from marketing to IT”

Since starting her franchise in October this year Caroline has taken on another recruitment consultant to work at her St Albans-based office, which also covers Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City.

“Initially I am working on the core recruitment sectors of office, admin and HR personnel but may expand into areas such as marketing positions where I have a lot of background knowledge.  Within three years I would like to open another branch.  It is a good time to start a recruitment business as the economy is on an upturn and employers need help finding good quality staff.”

She has also recently placed her first candidate – a sales consultant with a business utilities consultancy firm in St Albans.  “The basic principles taught by Select really worked.  It was so important to visit the client, find out more about their business and their working culture.  I was able to narrow the selection down to one candidate and he was offered the job.  The employer had been working with a London-based recruiter but they felt that they needed a more personal approach from a consultancy with knowledge of the local market.”
