Visionary former head teacher to join leading teacher supply agency
More than equipped for the role, Thursby has valuable experience after having led Furrowfield School as head teacher for two and a half years. An institution that caters for children with both social and emotional behavioural difficulties, the school has welcomed children who have been expelled from previous schools as well as those who have challenging conditions such as autism and attention deficit disorder. Passionate about the care and education of children with special needs, Mr Thursby demonstrated his dedication to going above and beyond the call of duty by being awarded the prestigious Chronicle Champion Teacher award in 2013.
Using his hands-on experience in the teaching environment, Thursby will be developing the training division within the Education Network as Thursby Education Services (Tes Ltd), and plans on providing and implementing bespoke training and inductions for teachers undertaking special education supply work, and will be able to offer a range of training and consulting services.
When asked what attracted him to the new role, Thursby said, “After years in teaching, my new vision was to enter recruitment. After meeting the team and witnessing their can-do approach, I am very excited about working with The Education Network”.
Kevin Gill, Director of The Education Network, added, “Steve will be an excellent addition to the team as his knowledge and experience within SEN will allow us to offer a bespoke recruitment, training and induction for our teachers, support staff and clients.”
