November boom for manufacturing jobs
Despite a decline in the overall number of jobs advertised in November, manufacturing jobs bucked the trend and rose by almost 17 per cent. These figures support the findings released by Markit/CIPS Purchasing Managers Index report which rose 0.2 per cent to 53.5 per cent in November any figure above 50 implies that the sector is growing. The survey indicated increased activity in the sector following solid domestic demand offset weaker than orders from overseas markets.
Richard Clarke, managing director at Recruitive says, “The UK manufacturing market still has a long way to go before it reaches its pre-recession levels, however it is obviously heading in the right direction with 21 consecutive months of continuous growth under its belt.”
Clarke adds, “According to our data, manufacturing wasn’t the only industry to receive a November boom in terms of the number of jobs advertised. The Nursing sector experienced a huge 35 per cent growth and Engineering rose by 12.12 per cent.”
