Manchester professionals kick-off for charity
Now in its sixth year, the league combines an opportunity to socialise with colleagues, network with peers whilst also playing football to a very high level.
MPFL organiser Ray Wareing, director of Sellick Partnership, said, “The success of the league is clear not only by the calibre of the companies involved, but also by the quality of football that is played. This isn’t a Sunday morning knockabout by any means! Our teams are expertly led by captains demonstrating the leadership abilities they clearly utilise in their day-to-day roles.”
Beginning on 13 January at the PowerLeague in Ardwick the league is organised by recruitment specialists, Sellick Partnership. It attracts professionals from a range of Manchester businesses with teams competing this year from companies including RBS, Greenergy, BMI, ITV, EY, WH Ireland and Air Energi.
The league began with just eight teams in its first year and now attracts up to 24 businesses competing over two months and has raised almost £10,000 for St Ann’s Hospice over six tournaments.
Wareing added, “We started the league because as a business we are huge sport lovers and we saw a unique way to build relationships with our clients. We now see that we’ve actually created a vibrant business network in the North West, which has developed solid opportunities for growth and collaboration.
“We also host a highly successful cricket league in Manchester during the summer months, attracting organisations like The Co-operative, Allianz and Manchester University. It is this exclusive opportunity to network across sectors which stands us out from our competition."
