Hay Group appoints MD for UK and Ireland
Tapper will be responsible for building on Hay Group’s success in the region, with a particular focus on showcasing the breadth and depth of the organisation’s solutions and services. In this role, he will work with Hay Group operations in nine countries, ensuring they align efficiently and effectively across the group.
Tapper succeeds Lesley Wilkin, who has joined Hay Group’s global leadership team as Global Managing Director Services.
Formerly a managing partner in the Korn Ferry Leadership and Talent Consulting practice, Tapper has over 30years of consulting experience. He also brings extensive experience in the public and private sectors and has particular expertise in the energy and utilities market.
“Hay Group’s solutions and services are built on world class intellectual property underpinned by a solid academic foundation. The organisation is unparalleled in the quality of its people and the relevance of its offerings to the challenges of its clients,” says Tapper. “This is a hugely exciting opportunity and I’m thrilled to be joining what is already a very successful business.”
“Organisations in the UK are at an interesting juncture. Many people in the workforce have been slow to move jobs in the aftermath of the financial crisis. But as the economy gets better, this trend may reverse. Consequently, people issues like retention, succession and optimal deployment are higher on the C-Suite agenda today than they have been for many years. Organisations are keenly aware that people are an asset and they need to work out how to retain and develop those that are the most valuable for their business. It’s becoming more important than ever to align business strategy with people strategy,” Tapper continues.
Israel Berman, global managing director, mature markets, Hay Group, says, “We’re delighted that Jim has taken the helm for Hay Group in the UK & Ireland and Northern Europe, and he will play an instrumental role in ensuring that we go from strength-to-strength. His deep knowledge and experience in management and people related consulting will be a hugely valuable asset as we help to steer organisations through the people challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.”
Prior to joining Korn Ferry, Tapper led the Centre for High Performance and its parent company Capital H Group, a global human capital consultancy. He also led the global energy and utilities practice for Logica Plc, served as associate partner in the strategy and business architecture practice at Accenture and provided independent consultancy to clients in the energy and utilities sector. Tapper was also managing director of Novera Energy Europe, a UK-based renewables-only electricity generating company and held positions with the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris and the US Department of Energy.
