TeamJobs helps to develop the workforce of tomorrow
The Poole-based recruitment specialist is one of the first businesses to join the new Dorset Consortium, Destination Education, which aims to bring employers together to help deliver career development programmes to students.
TeamJobs managing director Jason Gault, said, "Helping young people improve their employment chances is something we are passionate about at TeamJobs.
"Unfortunately, workforce research by the British Chambers of Commerce shows that 27% of firms have not recruited a 16-24 year old in the last year, while 88% of firms believe school leavers are not prepared for work.
"This is worrying, but sadly does not come as a surprise to us TeamJobs frequently encounters young people leaving school unsure of what direction to take and without the basic but very important skills they need, such as how to write their CV and how to conduct themselves in interviews."
He added, "It is in ours and everyone's best interest to ensure young people are entering the jobs market equipped with the skills they need to make the right decisions. Supporting Destination Education is an effective means of achieving that."
The Dorset Consortium has been set up by local company Smart Development Solutions.
The company offers schools a range of 'My' Programmes - funky, innovative workshops to support young people to identify their skills and values, improve their confidence, motivation and their interview and study skills.
TeamJobs will be championing the 'My' Interview programme which helps students in school years 11-13 develop self-awareness, as well as the more practical skills of preparing a CV and developing their interview performance.
Gault said, "The 'My' Interview programme is a perfect fit with our business and I hope many other local businesses will offer their support to Destination Education."
Elaine Plested, sales & marketing director of Smart Development Solutions Ltd said, "We are very pleased to have TeamJobs on board.
"There is a strong synergy between what we both want to deliver and achieve, and we look forward to delivering 'My' Interview and developing it further in partnership with Jason and his team."
