Double accolade for responsible recruiter GI Group UK

The company was the only recruitment consultancy to achieve a star rating in the annual CR Index results and was recognised in the 2015 Responsible Business Awards for its ongoing Employability Programme.

Submitting to the CR Index for the first time, the company received a coveted One Star rating at the first attempt, and in doing so became the only recruitment agency achieving an accreditation this year.

BITC’s corporate Adviser, Mark Radford said, “Gi Group UK took the bold and brave step of allowing its first submission to be included in the full national CR Index. It was a clear statement of the company’s desire to be transparent and build on the feedback it receives. Achieving a star at the first submission is remarkable, it really is. I know the company will seek to understand what needs to be improved and the feedback will provide a springboard to build on the fantastic contribution it has already made.”

The BITC Responsible Business Awards 2015 have also seen Gi Group UK re-accredited for the continual positive impact of its Employability Programme which places improved employability of job seekers at the forefront of its operations.

The Responsible Business Awards are the most prestigious and respected awards championing responsible business in the UK and abroad. They celebrate inspirational companies that are taking action to address social and environmental issues and transform their communities.

Every year as part of the Responsible Business Awards, Business in the Community & lsquo;re-accredits’ a number of companies who are able to demonstrate the continual positive impact of a programme that has received an award accolade. Gi Group UK was initially recognised in 2013, winning the National Workplace Talent and Skills category. Since then, the programme has evolved significantly with 2014 figures seeing 594 temporary candidates work towards completing an apprenticeship and over 3,500 temporary workers securing full time positions with some of the most respected manufacturing companies in the UK.

Stephen Howard, chief executive of Business in the Community, said, “The Responsible Business Awards celebrate the very best of business and raise awareness of business as a powerful force for good. We congratulate Gi Group UK for playing its part in creating a fairer society and more sustainable future and demonstrating that business has a greater purpose then simply generating profit.”

The announcements coincide with Responsible Business Week (20-26 April 2015) - an annual initiative to increase awareness of the positive contribution of business in society. The Responsible Business Awards celebrate the variety of ways that businesses are making a difference – from investing in the wellbeing of employees, to helping young people develop skills, or supporting small businesses to grow. 145 companies have been shortlisted in total across the UK, across the 13 award categories.

Commenting, Gi Group UK head of CSR, David Carlin, said, “Re-accreditation is a positive validation of our ongoing commitment to improving employability in the UK – be it through our initiatives with schools, work experience placements, apprenticeships or training. It also reinforces the continued importance of excelling in our core activity of responsible recruitment alongside the wider socially-led programmes and community relations we are developing."
