Nominations for the 2015 REC council elections now open
Nominations are sought for four non-executive directors to represent corporate members, and two non-executive directors to represent individual members of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP).
The deadline for nominations is Tuesday the 5th of May. REC members will be given the opportunity to vote between 21 May – 15 June, and the results of the election will be announced on 17 June at the REC’s Annual General Meeting.
Elected nominees will become part of a council of 24 non-executive directors, of which 17 represent corporate members and seven represent the IRP.
Neil Smith MBE, managing director of Kinetic plc and REC chairman, said, "As the largest professional body for our industry, the REC needs its council to make sure that the interests of recruiters are always at the heart of strategic decisions. Council members have the opportunity to influence the direction of campaigns to drive up industry standards, and to contribute to future success of the UK’s recruitment industry. It’s vital that the council includes a variety of perspectives, so I would encourage members to put themselves or their colleagues forward for this important role.”
Louise Hewett, managing director of Hewett Recruitment and REC council member, says, “I stood for the council last year because I felt I would enjoy being actively involved in helping to influence the future shape of the recruitment industry. The REC is spearheading some excellent initiatives in this period of economic growth, so it’s a great time to be involved. My fellow council members are a pleasure to work with, and I’m looking forward to welcoming some new faces to the group.”
REC chief executive Kevin Green says“Our council does a terrific job, steering the REC’s future agenda and helping us to represent the issues that are most important to our members. The UK’s recruitment industry is booming and we have big plans on the horizon, so this is an especially exciting time to get more involved. We’re looking for people who want to help us become even better.”
